How to pin and cast spells on a controller
Open the spell book and pin the spell to keep its notes visible. In one player’s demo controller setup, the sequence was X to pin → RT to start → A to use mana → X to conduct. Eastshade confirms the pin icon; the button sequence is the player’s report, so use the prompts shown on your device if they differ.

Follow the complete prompt
- In the spell book, look for the little pushpin icon on the song you want to use. Pinning keeps its notes on screen.
- Start the spell from your flute or spell control. The reporting player used RT to bring up the prompt.
- Follow the notes, then complete the mana action. That player had missed the A input and received no usable prompt until they pressed it.
- Use the shown conduct or confirm input to finish the cast. Their controller showed X.
The source is one player’s successful demo sequence, not a verified layout for every controller.
There is a later shortcut
Eastshade says a song that reaches learned mastery in the music minigame can be cast directly from the spell bar by clicking the flute. That is an optional later convenience. A pinned note reminder helps with normal casting before then.
If the song plays but nothing happens
Casting and assigning a target are separate actions for tilling, mining and chopping. Once the cast moves into cursor mode, move the cursor and queue a target before confirming. The tilling guide explains that developer-confirmed step.
